on maya 2013 sp2
Hello! let me go straight to the problem:
Fact is that I've been unable to use my Spacepilot pro for a while inside maya. I've tried reinstalling, uninstalling, deleteing maya & 3dx preferences... etc... without result. I've searched these forums looking for solutions and tried everything I could find. Everytime I start Maya I get this error in the console on 3dx plugin load:
// Error: //
// Error: Line 0.38: "$gMagellanMoveMode" is an undeclared variable. //
// Error: //
// Error: Line 0.46: "$gMagellanRotationMode" is an undeclared variable. //
// Error: //
// Error: Line 0.38: "$g3DxSuspendMotion" is an undeclared variable. //
// Error: //
// Error: Line 0.44: "$gMagellanDisableRoll" is an undeclared variable. //
// Error: //
// Error: Line 0.42: "$gMagellan3DViewLock" is an undeclared variable. //
// Error: //
// Error: Line 0.48: "$gMagellanObjectControl" is an undeclared variable. //
// Error: //
// Error: Line 0.62: "$gbMagellanEnableMotionCapture" is an undeclared variable. //
I think its not the first time someone asks, I tried beta 3dxlabs drivers as well for same effect. Please... I'm a bit desperate

Re: on maya 2013 sp2
Hi thanks!
thats exactly the thread I followed, I used to lauch it manually by typing MagellanStartup at the console and everything was fine.
The only thing I did was launching Maya with admin rights over a week ago. I read somewhere that 3dconnexion plugin needed admin rights as well if that was the case, so I did, but to me, (no changes at all) it looks more like if it was looking for the plugin scripts on the wrong place.
Today I tried the mouse at work and it worked just fine, as it should. At home I've tried erasing all maya prefs folder, starting over... nothing changed

Hi Abishai,
Have you tried running the "repair" of the software? This ought to help with plug-in installations. Go to the Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Programs and select "3Dconnexion 3DxSoftware". Then click "Change" and follow the instructions to "Repair" the software. You can also simply start the installer package (which will take it you straight to the "Modify, repair or remove" panel).
Also, make sure you have the latest 3Dconnexion software for your device. You can download the software from here.
None of our plug-in software requires admin (elevated) privileges. Only the installer and a few others tools (which are not necessary for day-to-day usage of 3D mice) require elevation.I read somewhere that 3dconnexion plugin needed admin rights as well if that was the case, so I did, but to me, (no changes at all) it looks more like if it was looking for the plugin scripts on the wrong place.

Re: on maya 2013 sp2
reinstalled the driver, repaired it as suggested, used the wizard inside... now I have no error, now looks like maya doesnt recognize de device anymore (shows blank on the 3d connexion menu - hotkeys) the puzzle works fine, though
Re: on maya 2013 sp2
Hi Abishai,
Are you running Maya as an admin (elevated) user?now looks like maya doesnt recognize de device anymore
Re: on maya 2013 sp2
I was running it as regular user, but trying to do it as admin takes me to the first error results on console, what is bugging me is that it wont awnser even to 3d coat anymore as well, but its working fine within the puzzle :S
Re: on maya 2013 sp2
I didn't mean to ask to run Maya as admin. Quite contrary: you should always run as the logged in user, non-elevated.
Can you try going through all the demos in the "3Dconnexion" Start menu folder? Some will use the exact same API to get 3D mouse data this may shed some light. If one does not work, we will need to have a look at the driver log.

Re: on maya 2013 sp2
Ok I'll give it a try tonight, btw I assume the device should be connected to an USB 2.0, right? Do you know if plugging it into a 1.0 or 3.0 could modify its intended behaviour in some way?
Re: on maya 2013 sp2
Hi Abishai,
It should work fine with whatever you connected it to (I think USB 1.0 won't but 1.1 will which is probably what you have anyway).Ok I'll give it a try tonight, btw I assume the device should be connected to an USB 2.0, right? Re: on maya 2013 sp2
Ok I tried uninstalling/reinstalling maya after cleaning all registry entries related to it and that made the mouse work again, Still only works if the mouse is plugged on to a particular USB
and not always along the same session (without restarting the system)
Re: on maya 2013 sp2
What do you mean "only works"? Does it work with Maya on a that single port?Abishai wrote: Still only works if the mouse is plugged on to a particular USB
