Rhino and stuff

Post by Benito3000 »

Hey guys,

Just got the spacenavigator- it is awesome as I knew it would be...still getting used to it though.

Anyway I have a couple of questions if anyone could help

1) This is for Rhino but could apply to any other 3d program: Is there a way to configure the 3d mouse to change profiles (or internally within rhino) such that when entering 2D orthographic views (top, left, etc.) it changes to a different configuration? I would ideally like to be able to use it like a joystick, which is different from the config during perspective views. I hope that makes sense- I can clarify if needs be.

2) In Rhino for some reason if I am using the spacenavigator and then I move the mouse at the same time, the performance drops and it becomes choppy and laggy. This is not the case in 3ds max and autocad so I guess it is specific to Rhino. Has anyone else had this problem or could suggest a solution?

Thanks :D

Hello Benito3000,

ad 1) for Rhino there is no possibility to automatically switch profiles (depending on the environment).

ad 2) I tried to reproduce the issue you describe, but I had no choppy or laggy movement. Can you provide a step-by-step description what I have to do to get the choppy movement? An example file might help to see the issue.

Thanks,

Hi Uta,

Thanks for your reply.

The issue is very simple- regardless of file, it happens every time, even with a blank project open.

Navigation with the 3d mouse is perfect- until I move the mouse (during navigation). As soon as I start moving the mouse, the viewport simply freezes until the mouse stops moving. Once the mouse has stopped moving the viewport resumes from where it would have been. This is a strange issue and I'm not sure what's causing it...

Curiously if I am in a command which is creating an object (any kind of line, surface etc.) the problem disappears.

Any idea of what's wrong?
