SpacePilotPRO - Siemens NX 8.5: buttons not working

Hi,

this is my first topic here, I need help with SpacePilotPRO and NX8.5.
Yesterday I started using my new PC, I'v installed NX as required by the company I work for, and installed the latest driver for space pilot PRO from 3D connexion website (version 10.2.2) - full installation.
With the old PC I did the same procedure some years ago, and the 3D connexion dropdown menù in NX was showed and I was able to map the button directly from UG interface.
Now with new PC and new drivers UG 3D connexion dropdown menù is not showed in NX and no one button work in NX.

Some more info regarding my PC and NX version:

Win8.5 - INTEL core i7-4820K 3.7ghz 16 GB ram - 64 bit
UG NX 8.5.3.3

Additional info: I'v found the following procedure on 3D connexion website:

The 3DConnexion Plug-in for NX requires the following System Environment Variables to be set correctly:
1) Rename the global system environment variable from "UGII_3DCONNEXION_LIBRARY" to "UGII_3DCONNEXION_LIBRARY_BAK"
2) Open the following file (e.g. for NX6): C:\Program Files\UGS\NX 6.0\UGII\ugii_env.dat
3) Add the following line to this file: UGII_3DCONNEXION_LIBRARY=${UGII_BASE_DIR}\UGALLIANCE\vendor\startup\3dxnx.dll

Repeat steps 2. and 3. for all NX installations.


The problem is that I haven't the environment variable "UGII_3DCONNEXION_LIBRARY".

Can you please help me to find where could be the problem?

sorry, one mistake in the previous post, Windows version is 7 no 8.5 (8.5 is the UG version!!)

Hello davidRAM,

we have redesigned the driver and the plugin. You can now find everything in one place: in the driver panel. There you can make changes to the settings of sensitivity or the axes settings and you can map all the functions provided by NX in the driver, too. You should have an entry "UGS NX" in the button mapping drop down:

thanks for your kind reply.

I've found this new feature in the new driver panel that appear when pressing "MENU" on my device, and I've tried to map some buttons (example edge blend or other commons operations), but when I press the relative button nothing happens in NX.
The problem seems to be that the device buttons don't give input to NX....no one button/functions work. I'm able only to rotate and move the model.

Am I the first with this kind of problem?

Hi David,

from the picture that you posted I have the impression that the driver doesn't recognize the environment that NX is using. There should be the name of the environment in NX that you are just working in.

I would need a log file from NX from you. I will contact you directly.

I have a similar problem with spacenavigator and NX9.0.
Still cannot figure out how to use the button. I dont have problem assigning function to the button but it is not working on NX.
I am using the latest software.

Please help to advise. My environment looks similar to above post.

Ignore my question above. Already found the solution.
I need to configure the button thru NX Menu>3DConnexion instead of directly from the 3dConnexion soft.

Then you probably have 3DxSoftware 3.18.0 installed (or earlier) and not 3DxWare 10.2.2 - our latest driver.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem, (Spacepilot doesn't recognize NX applications). It recognize them in default NX settings, but with company default setting, which I have to use of course, it doesn't. So it is some problem with set NX variables or something like that...

Could you offer me some assistance? I will send a logfile on request.
