SpacePilot not working with Maya2015

Post by Bendelow »

Okay - to kick things off: - I have a main workstation and laptop workstation, both are running Win 7 64 and both have the current driver ( which DOES support the old SpacePilot).
I had Autodesk Ultimate Creation Suite on subscription and was happy sticking with the 2014 version (everything worked fine on both machines) but now I'm out of subscription and have to use the 2015 version & so begins the pain

2015 Maya on the Laptop and the drivers are working fine but NOT the workstation - The SpacePilot doesn't even now Maya is there (LCD display panel).

There appears to have been some sort of install : -
some sort of install.PNG
some sort of install.PNG (15.49 KiB) Viewed 3258 times
But when selecting 'properties' I get this : -
error 1.PNG
error 1.PNG (3.63 KiB) Viewed 3258 times
When manually dropping the scripts into maya I get this from the script editor : -

Exectute 3DxMaya_load.mel : =

// Error: file: C:/ProgramData/Autodesk/ApplicationPlugins/3DxMaya/Contents/scripts/C3Dconnexion.mel line 1411: Plug-in, "3DxMaya" was compiled against too old a version of the Maya API and is thus incompatible with the current Maya version. (3DxMaya) //

As I said, this isn't the issue with the laptop and wasn't the issue with Maya 2014 on the main workstation
This is all a bit of a pain as I prefer to limit the use of the laptop to client locations but as I tend to pass files from max to maya & back again I'm now 'hot desking' in my own studio hopping between desks and taking my controller with me.

Any ideas? I've gone to the extent for copying the scripts from the laptop to the workstation but it's still not working - what I've yet to attempt is a full removal of the 3Dconnexion software and then a reinstall - the possible pain of this is that it won't work and I'll then be left with setting up the preferences for all the applications I use - & that's a lot of shortcuts and radial menus.

Please Help I don't have much hair left as it is & now there's even less :(

Fixed it - there was an old script sitting in the plugins bin - once removed it all worked.

General question: - Where do the device pref's live? This would be useful to stick on a memory stick if clients need me on their machines.

Hi Bendelow,

I am glad you could fix the problem. :)

Your user-specific settings are here: %APPDATA%\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\Cfg. But note that this file contains just the difference compared to the default (located at %PROGRAMFILES%\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\Cfg).
