Hi torniaccio,

you tried it within the Windows Explorer (see above)? How many Push Buttons do you see at the bottom of the gray window? Also when 3Dconnexion Picture Viewer isn't installed you should be able to open images inside the Windows explorer (instead of the ListView which shows the files located under the selected folder).

ciao

Hi Roberto,

as workaround you can try to launch 3DxViewer by commandline. Open a Dos Terminal and go to the installation folder of 3DConnexion Viewer (default: C:\program files\3Dconnexion\3Dconnexion Picture Viewer\).
Check if file shimgxx.dll exists and execute following commandline:

rundll32.exe shimgxx.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen [Full Path to some Picture you want to open]

The Viewer should launch. But we should try to understand the installation problems you have.

ciao

Ciao Roberto,

as email address you can use *******************. It would be useful that you write a note at this forum after posting the screenshot to *******************.

Thanks, ciao

Wolfgang

Ciao Roberto,

thanks for the screenshot, something went completely wrong with your installation. Would you be so kind to check following registry entries (via regedit.exe) . Check if the keys are existing and send me the values.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\shimgxx.dll\command

and

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{50F16B26-467E-11D1-8271-00C04FC3183B\InprocServer32}

Thanks

Hi guys,

some news.
here is what I've tried, with an error message, that i hope, will help u to find a solution.

-firewall swiched off
-antivirus swiched off
-removed all 3dx sw
-system rebooted
-3dx sw installed by original CD
-autocad plug in installed (from extras)

tring to "open with" a picture (JPEG), and in the sw list finally appear "3dx pic. view." BUT a windows error message say "c:\aaa.jpg it is not a valid application of WIN32".

Than I've do so,

-update sw by downloaded driver
-reboot pc
and when I tried to "open with" a picture (JPEG) the "3dx pic. view." there was no more listed.

Any idea?

Hi torniaccio,

I would need some more information from your registry. I think it would be best you extract the relevant information from the registry by a dos commandline. Three entries would be needed so execute the 3 commandlines each after the other. Each commandline will produce a *.txt file. please send me these 3 files (3Dconnexion.txt, shimgxx.txt, InprocServer.txt).

To produce these files open a Dos Shell, go to a folder where you have write permissions and execute following 3 commandlines:

"reg export HKLM\Software\3Dconnexion 3Dconnexion.txt"
"reg export HKCR\Applications\shimgxx.dll shimgxx.txt"
"reg export HKCR\CLSID\{50F16B26-467E-11D1-8271-00C04FC3183B} InprocServer.txt"

thanks, ciao

Hi torniaccio,

the pathes at the registry for the 3DxViewer are not consistent. There are two different pathes to shimgxx.dll. Please let me know the path or pathes (when shimgxx.dll is located more then once at your folder tree) of shimgxx.dll.

The registry entries are telling me following folders:
C:\Programmi\3Dconnexion\3Dconnexion 3DxSoftware\3DxViewer\shimgxx.dll

and / or

C:\Programmi\3Dconnexion\3Dconnexion Picture Viewer\shimgxx.dll

are both existing? or which of the 2 shimgxx.dll dosen't exist?

thanks, ciao

shimgxx.dll exist only in C:\Programmi\3Dconnexion\3Dconnexion 3DxSoftware\3DxViewer\shimgxx.dll
