Mapping Panel Button with Pro/E Button Mapper

Post by marine_man »

Is there any way (even by manually modifying the profile text file) to manually map the Panel button to a user defined button character and still be able to map Pro/E functions using the Pro E user panel?

I'd like to assign the Panel button to one dedicated function for all Pro E files (drawing, part, assembly, etc), and access the Pro E button mapper via the pull down menu.

If I map it using the standard Control Panel I am no longer able to map pro e functions using that toolbar - the profile in the standard control panel overides any mapping.

Is it possible?

Thanks!

USe the Button Mapping editor in the 3DxProENGINEER panel.

If you create a macro in the 3DControl panel.
Save it and then open the 3DXproengineer button editor select the 3dxware and drag and drop the macro you created to a button.
Click save, this saves the profile.

Depending which mode you have open you will have to map each so you can use the same function..

If you have a space pilot you can right click on the other unused profiles and disable, so wont come up as an option.

As far as I can tell however, there is no option to map the "Panel" button in the Pro Engineer button mapping editor (that lists all the Pro/E functions that are possible to be mapped). Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Can you map the function to a keyboard command in Pro-E?

If so you can then open up the 3DXware control panel
(Not the one in Pro E) Click on Button Configuration
Select Custom Function
Give it a name
click on the button you previously mapped to the keyboard.
Click save

Now Open Pro E
open the Button mapping
Select 3DXware
you should be able to find the macro
then drag it to the button you want assigned.

I may not be clear on what button it is I want to map.

I want to be able to assign a function (in my case, a user created one) to this button:

I'm pretty sure it's not possible via the normal interface, but is there a (admitadly unsupported) way to do it via the text profile file?

Thanks,

Hi marine_man,

Reprogramming the pane buttonl is not possible using the user interface in the add-in for Pro/E.

Have you tried using the "3Dconnexion Control Panel" (with Pro/E on the foreground, go to Start menu, Programs, 3Dconnexion, 3Dconnexion 3DxWare and select "Show 3DxWare Control Panel)? Create your custom function -- as Fred suggested -- and select it on the "Panel" button.

Yes, I've tried that. When I do that I loose the ability to have seperate button mappings for assembly, part, etc. I get the same set of mappings for all pro e parts / models, and it takes all the mapping from the 3dx control panel (non pro/e)

Thanks anyway...

I follow this up internally. Remapping the "Panel" button is not a supported feature when using our add-in for Pro/E. This is by design.
